The 2015-16 team is the strongest team in Brooks Girls Track history. The season preview done by the states media reports (Milesplit Illinois and Dyestat Illinois) have Brooks listed as one of the top teams competing out of Chicago with a shot for a team title in May for IHSA Championship.

Brooks has returned state champ and state runner-up sophomore Imani Carothers and senior Whitney Ward. They placed in 100 meter hurdles and 300 hurdles. They were also a part of an All State 4x200 meter relay, running with Senior Jaleya Bell and sophomore Ke'niya Smith.

The season's biggest meet so far has been the Proviso West Invite. The meet started with a Illinois # 1 and U.S. # 20 ranking in Long Jump by Imani (18 ft 11.5 in). About an hour later Carothers put up another Illinois #1 mark in her favorite event 55 meter hurdles. These of course were both school records. Another record set in the field events was done by newcomer Nadia Dockery. The senior toss the 8.8 pound Shot Put 30 ft. 4 in. on her first attempt ever! Other stars of the meet included Ke'niya Smiths Illinois # 7 55 meter dash and Whitney Wards Illinois # 1 300 meter dash. Last but not least, senior Jaleya Bell joined the trio of Ward, Smith, and Carothers to anchor home a Illinois rank # 11 4x200 meter relay in aschool record breaking time of 1 minute 47.82 seconds.

The Lady Eagles travel to Carthage College in Kenosha Wisconsin in a week and will be attending the CPS indoor track championships at the university of Chicago March 18 and 20.

Please come support the ladies as the attempt our 3rd consecutive CPS Indoor Championship victory.
