Brooks Students Win Science Fair Awards

Four Brooks students participated in the Far South Side Science Fair. All of them got awards. The 3 gold honors recipients qualified to compete in the City Science Fair on March 20-23, 2014. They are:

  • Tyler Portis, 11th Grade: Computer Science: Hiding In Plain Sight
  • Jovani Serrano ,12th Grade: Physics: Speed of the Muon
  • Mayra Herrera, 11th Grade: Chemistry: Caffeine in Tea

Tyler Portis was also awarded the best Computer Science Project in the area in addition to the gold honors.

Andrew Saavedra got an Honorable Mention Award for his Chemistry: Oxidation and Rust project.
