To the Brooks Family

Mon, 09/08/2014

Greetings GBCPA Family,

On behalf of the Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy Local School Council I welcome you to the 2014-15 school year!  I trust your summer was safe, enjoyable and memorable.  As we embark upon this new school term, we are excited about what the future holds for our students.  We are making incredible progress and I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the many accomplishments of 2013-14 and acknowledge the untiring efforts of the teachers, administration and students, as well as the entire staff and parents.

We are in the midst of historic change and innovation, but times like these can be very challenging.  Some individuals who played an important role in the successes of the past year are no longer at Brooks, but we recognize their major contributions as we wish them well in future endeavors.

Even though much has been achieved, we cannot rest on our laurels.  We still have a long way to go to attain the level of excellence we envision for the students of GBCPA.  Assessing and improving upon current practices, while incorporating new academic challenges, will be extremely important as we continue the pursuit of making GBCPA the “Crown Jewel” of the Chicago Public School!  I believe we are well on our way and the best is yet to be seen.  I look forward working with everyone as we continue this incredible journey.  Have a Supernatural year!
