Brooks Promotes An Environment of Academic Rigor and Experimentation

Recruitment Wednesdays

Interested in visiting us to find out more about Brooks and the various courses, programs, events, and supports we offer our students? Feel free to register to attend one of several Recruitment Wednesday events, which are held throughout the year (specific dates are in the linked Google form). Recruitment Wednesdays offer prospective students and their families the opportunity to tour Brooks in a small group with a current student to better understand the history of the school and some of our key programming as well as what makes our school so special, and then will have the chance to hear from a panel of current students about life at Brooks. This event will run on the dates in the form from 12:30-2pm. We encourage school groups to come together to tour and view high school through an experiential lens. Contact AP Dolan with any questions at krdolan@cps.edu.

Transfer Applications

NOTE: This section gets updated in May of each school year. Please check back then.

To download the 2019-2020 Transfer Application, click here. Transfer applications will be accepted until July 15, 2019 for the 2019-2020 school year for rising 10th-12th graders. You will need to complete the application in its entirety (including official year-end transcripts) and return all materials in one envelop to Brooks by the application deadline to be considered. Decisions will be made beginning mid-August on a rolling basis through the third week of school, depending on availability.

If you have any questions about the transfer process, please email Assistant Principal Kerry Dolan at krdolan@cps.edu.

Follow the steps below to apply online (adapted from the CPS Office of Access and Enrollment website):

STARTING OCTOBER 1ST.
  • Current eighth graders received anEligibility Letter that contains a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for the online process. See your counselor for this letter.
  • Go to the online application website, go.cps.edu, click "Apply", select "High School" and follow the instructions.
  • Starting October 1st at 9 a.m., you can schedule your child's test date, time, and location. NOTE: Your child will only take one Selective Enrollment test, even if you plan to apply to more than one school. Print the test confirmation and keep it.
  • After you successfully schedule your test, return to the online site between October 1st and December 12, 2019, by 11:59 p.m. to APPLY. Click 'Apply' to identify the schools where you want your child to apply.
  • REMEMBER:  This is a two-step process:  (1) SCHEDULE, then (2) APPLY. If you only schedule your child's exam, and do not select the schools to which you want to apply, your child cannot be considered for enrollment.
  • Print the confirmation page for your records -- this will be the only documentation you have that lists the schools to which you applied.
  • You will receive an email confirmation when your application is received by our office. The email confirmation will confirm that your application has been successfully submitted.
  • Please call (773) 553-2060 with questions about your PIN number, test scheduling, and applications.

Modify or change your application:

  • Complete this form and mail to the Office of Access and Enrollment: 125 S. Clark St., 10th floor, Chicago, IL  60603 or scan and email to appmod@cps.edu.

Please visit the CPS Office of Access and Enrollment website or call the Office of Access and Enrollment at 773-553-2060 if you have any questions regarding the Selective Enrollment admissions process or your application.
